*Seven Judges are used in national competition.
When the scores are given (0-10) the two highest and lowest scores are taken away.
The remaining 3 scores are added together and multiplied by the
Degree of Difficulty (DD) for the total score of that dive.

0Completey failed (Broken position or incomplete rotation)
1/2-2Completed dive but very unsatisfactory
2 1/2-4 1/2Deficient
5-6Good
6 1/2-8Very good
8 1/2-10Excellent

What the Judges Look For...

ApproachGraceful and Forceful showing proper form
TakeoffMust balance and control with the correct angle when landing and leaving the board depending on the dive being performed
ElevationHeight and amount a spring that a diver gets GREATLY affects the give because it determines the amount of time in the air to complete the dive.**A higher dive usually earns a higher score
ExecutionMOST IMPORTANT...The judge loks for proper technique, position, and grace.
EntryThe entry is the last thing that the judge will see and shows how well the dive is controlled. Near vertical entry and minimal to no splash are ideal for a good score.
